DWARF PURPLE REIGN. Mid-season, dwarf, high-yielding variety with regular rugose foliage. A compact type bred by Dean Slater and released in 2016 as part of a project aimed at developing small yet highly productive tomatoes. Plants form neat, sturdy bushes up to 1 m. tall, fitting perfectly even into limited garden spaces or greenhouses. Despite their compact size, the plants impress with abundant fruit set and consistent harvests throughout the season. Fruits are an attractive red-brown with distinctive dark shoulders and slight ribbing near the stem.
The skin is smooth and firm, while the flesh is dense and meaty. Average fruit weight is 100-250 g, with some reaching 300-350 g. They have a rich aroma and a distinctly sweet flavour balanced with a refreshing acidity. The variety is versatile — ideal for fresh eating, salads, sandwiches, and processing. In tasting trials, the flavour was rated 5+ points, and the yield received a solid 5 points. This tomato is a real gem for anyone seeking a compact, low-maintenance, yet beautiful and delicious variety with a unique coloration.
