DWARF ROSE BEAUTY. Tall, high-yielding, wonderful variety. Heirloom from the Rose family, Kentucky. It was bred in the late 1920s by John Rose, described in the 2001 Seed Savers Yearbook and commercially released in 2008. Large, flattened, ribbed fruits with shoulders weigh around 500 grams, and weight can exceed one kilogram.
Color ranges from creamy white to pale yellow with a pink blush at the tip. Deep and wide indentation at the stem attachment. The flesh is meaty, with a delicate juicy texture and mild aroma, excellent flavor. Fruits are very beautiful, flat-round, yellow. Some have a pink blush or pale pink “cap.” Very tender and meaty, with a wonderful, sweet taste.
DWARF TOMATOES
The Dwarf Tomato Project features compact, determinate varieties ideal for growing in limited spaces such as balconies, containers, or small gardens. These varieties were bred as part of a project aimed at developing new cultivars that retain rich flavor and a diversity of forms. Here are some popular dwarf tomato varieties:
- Sweet Sue — yellow-orange tomato with a mild, sweet flavor.
- Emerald Giant — green tomato with amber hues when ripe, very rich flavor.
- Purple Heart — dark purple, heart-shaped tomato with a good balance of sweetness and acidity.
- Beauty King — bicolor red-yellow fruit with fruity, sweet taste.
- Arctic Rose — pink, early variety with mild flavor and juicy flesh.
