BRANDYWINE JOYCE'S STRAIN, USA. Tomato tasting winner of 2016. State of Maryland. A very rare Brandywine line. The seeds were sent to us from France, but the variety showed some discrepancy. For two years we selected seeds for planting only from the largest bushes, as some plants produced both medium and large fruits, while others produced only large ones.
The taste of the fruits is excellent, rated 5 out of 5. The plants are very vigorous and productive. Vigorous indeterminate plant with excellent development, potato leaf type. Good yield from mid-season until the first frost. A selection developed by Chuck Wyatt from the original Ben Quisenberry variety introduced to the public in 1995.
VARIETY CHARACTERISTICS
The main feature of this variety is its earlier ripening and smoother shape compared to other Brandywine types. Also known as: Brandywine 'Pink Joyce'. Pink beefsteak-type fruits weighing from 200 to 500 g, round and flattened at the poles. Dense and firm flesh with a rich and sweet flavor.
The "Brandywine" tomato series includes tomatoes known for their large fruits and excellent taste. These are classic beefsteak tomatoes, usually intended for salads and fresh consumption. The series includes many varieties. All of them are characterized by high productivity, disease resistance, and outstanding flavor. These tomatoes were bred to adapt to different climatic conditions.
