EVA'S AMISH STRIPE, USA. A tomato variety from the Amish community in Pennsylvania State. Mid-season, high-yielding, indeterminate. Stems are medium in thickness, not many of them, the plants are not dense. As of June 22, the plants had developed 9-14 flower clusters. Plant height reaches 1.5-1.6 meters. In the season, the first fruits started ripening around July 28-30. These kinds of tomatoes are often described as “Sweet as honey”. The amazing uniformity of the fruits is impressive. Beautiful, appetizing, simply a fairytale. The flesh is yellow-red, marbled, aromatic, low in acidity, and well-flavored.
Externally orange-pink, inside very attractive—also pink-orange bicolored, marbled, very meaty, multi-chambered, quite juicy, dense, and tasty. A season hit for productivity and fruit uniformity. No small fruits on the plants. As mentioned, inherited from a Pennsylvania Amish community, though the exact origin remains unclear. Large beefsteak-type fruit weighing from 300 to 600 grams, flattened and deeply ribbed at the shoulders. Bicolored yellow skin with a red blush as it ripens, more noticeable on the lower half.
AMISH TOMATOES:
Amish tomatoes are a group of varieties historically associated with Amish communities, known for their dedication to traditional farming. These communities preserve the heritage of heirloom varieties. These are categorized as "heirloom" or "heritage" types, meaning they have remained unchanged for decades. They are not modified and retain their original characteristics.
They are notable for their rich, balanced flavor with both sweet and acidic notes. Often used fresh or for making tomato sauces and pastes. They include varieties with red, pink, orange, yellow, and even bicolored fruits. The shapes can be round, plum-like, or even ribbed. Typically, these are productive varieties suitable for organic cultivation.
