FRED. A true tomato heirloom with a lively and interesting history. This variety was obtained from a farmer at a farmers market in Columbia and preserved for many years as a family treasure. FRED belongs to the category of family heirlooms and originates from the Mid-Missouri area, the city of Glasgow. Plants in open ground reach a height of about 1.2 meters, distinguished by robust health, a powerful stem, and a broad habit. The bushes are well-leafed, stable, excellently holding large fruits. Clusters form 4-5 tomatoes, which is an excellent indicator for fruits of this size. The fruits are large, meaty, with an average weight of 200-450 grams, individual specimens can be even larger.
The coloring is very effective: a yellow base with a rich pink blush that covers most of the fruit and makes each tomato unique. The shape is neat, slightly flattened, classic for old varieties. The flesh is dense, juicy, sugary, with pronounced sweetness and a harmonious taste without excess acidity. These tomatoes are ideal for fresh consumption, salads, slicing, and also for those who appreciate a truly rich, "old-fashioned" tomato taste. This is not just a variety, but a rare, reliable, and very tasty tomato with character and history. A true super-tomato for collectors and connoisseurs of quality family heirlooms.
