GREEN BUMBLEBEE. Indeterminate, mid-early and high-yielding variety, ideal for open-field cultivation. The plants are vigorous, with strong, lodging-resistant stems and large regular-type foliage. They reach a height of 1.6-1.7 m, forming dense and powerful greenery.
The variety is highly productive, including on lateral shoots, actively forming fruit on side stems. The inflorescence is simple; each cluster sets 7–8 oval, two-chamber fruits weighing 20–30 g. The coloring is unusual and ornamental: green background with yellow stripes, and as they ripen, pink spots and streaks appear, giving the fruit an attractive appearance.
The flesh is very juicy, sweet, with a distinct fruity aftertaste, making this variety not only decorative but also delicious — perfect for fresh salads and creative presentations. The fruits may be prone to cracking with excess moisture, but in general they ripen well even in rainy weather.
VARIETY HISTORY
The story of this variety is a vivid example of how nature, in collaboration with an observant breeder, can produce unique forms. An unusual plant with non-standard coloration was spotted by Tatyana Kushnaryova (Tatiana’s TOMATObase) in 2013 among plants of the Purple Bamblebee variety from Artisan Seeds. Five years of dedicated work to stabilize the form led to the creation of a fully developed variety that has since confidently entered the market.
