GRÜNER ANANAS BUSCH, GREEN PINEAPPLE BUSCHTOMATE. This variety has Canadian origins with German roots. The first name is in German, the second one in English. Under these names, the variety was purchased by us in Canada and additionally in Germany to verify its authenticity. A late-season, determinate, highly productive, and truly exceptional tomato variety. The compact, bush-type plants have strong stems and dense, dark green, potato-type foliage.
The flavor is rich and sweet, with a bright fruity note and no bitterness, making the tomatoes especially pleasant fresh. An interesting feature is that the higher the flower cluster, the more blossoms it contains. At the top of the plant, there are virtually no leaves — only garlands of flowers on thick and sturdy pedicels. Each cluster can hold up to 100 flowers, making the variety highly decorative.
Fruit setting is not simultaneous, but the fruits hold well and rarely drop. This ensures an extended fruiting period. When ripe fruits are harvested regularly, even a single compact plant can yield a generous harvest. The fruits are bright yellow-green, crack-resistant, well-storing, fairly firm yet juicy.
