GULF STATE MARKET. A southern market tomato — this variety was originally bred for the produce markets of the Gulf States (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida), where high temperatures, humidity, and long growing seasons demand plants with strong resilience and productivity. It is a family heirloom variety from the United States, dating back to the 1930s. This is a mid-season, indeterminate (tall-growing) variety.
The fruits are round, classic in shape, smooth, and uniform, with excellent marketable appearance. Their skin is pink, while the flesh is deep red. The texture is meaty, very juicy, and fragrant, with a rich, balanced flavor — sweet with light spicy notes. Suitable for fresh eating, as well as for sauces, pastes, juice, or canning. A truly versatile tomato.
We obtained seeds of this rare variety from a private collector in South Carolina, ensuring the authenticity and preservation of its original traits. Time-tested, this variety is known for its disease resistance and reliable yields, proven over generations of American gardeners.
