JAZZ, USA. A true hit of the 2018 season! Tall, mid-late, high-yielding variety. The bushes are powerful, with thick stems. The variety description mentions fruit weight up to 500 g. In our dry year, they turned out to be from 400 grams and above. The largest fruit weighed 950 g. And this was without pruning or any bush shaping.
Uniform giant fruits, beautiful, pink with orange stripes. Meaty, multi-chambered, quite juicy. A wonderful sweet taste with a very pleasant fruity aftertaste, hard to identify (according to the author of the variety, it’s peachy). Good fruit resistance to cracking. We rated this variety 5 stars for excellent yield and 5+ for its amazing taste.
VARIETY HISTORY
The author of this remarkable variety is Fred Hempel from Artisan Seeds. We also have other outstanding varieties from this talented breeder, such as Orange Jazz. The variety has a unique, beautiful shape — even, densely ribbed, symmetrical, and attractive. The bush is powerful, spreading, 1.8 meters tall, with clusters of 3–4 fruits weighing from 500 g.
All fruits are very large, with no small ones. The shape is flattened, with frequent, dense ribs at the base. It looks as if it was hand-gathered. The color is raspberry-red with orange stripes, the flesh is dark pink, sweet with a hint of acidity, light fruity notes, oily, with few seeds.
