JOHANNA, France. Medium-early, tall, high-yielding variety. The plants are robust, with thick, dark green stems and mini-potato leaves. The fruits are large, round-flat, weighing between 280 to 500 grams, of variable shape, very beautiful, light green with dark green stripes. When cut, they are green, multi-chambered, fleshy, juicy, tender, pleasantly aromatic, sweet, and very tasty!
The taste would be rated 7 out of 5 possible points. The variety may still be unstable; there were fruits of a different, oval shape, but with the same wonderful taste. The seeds of this variety were purchased by us in France. The parents of this variety are: Green Zebra, Copia, and Green Heart Beef Japanese. The cross was made by Tom Wagner, and the stabilization was done by Pascal Clerc.
VARIETY HISTORY:
This variety has 4 "siblings," which can be read about in more detail in the description of "Coeur de Surpriz." In 2021, there was no splitting, and even the unripe fruits are tasty. A separate line discovered by a girl named Joanna gave the variety its name. Medium-early, with a bush height of 0.8 meters in open ground. All fruits are large, flat-round or flattened, weighing up to 500 grams.
The color is light green with dark green stripes and streaks all over the fruit. The skin is thin, and the flesh is meaty green with a very tender and pleasant taste. In full ripeness, a red "tie" appears in the center of the fruit.
