LUCKY CROSS. A tall, medium-early, high-yielding variety with potato leaves. This world-famous, wonderful variety was developed by Craig LeHoullier. A relatively recent variety, dated 1997, and introduced in the 2002 S.S.Yearbook. The result of crossing the "Brandywine" variety with an unknown, random parent, hence the name "Lucky Cross." The height of the plants on 15.07.2019 and 15.07.2020 was ± 165 cm, and on 15.07.2021, it was 197-203 cm. In the 2020 season, the first fruits started ripening on July 30, and by June 20, 2021, 14 flower clusters had formed on the plant. The most beautiful in cross-section, meaty, marbled, very juicy, with sweetness and acidity, and a rich aroma.
Attention: Loves sunlight, does not tolerate shading from trees or yard structures very well. This affects both the flavor of the fruits and the yield of the plants.
COLOR AND SHAPE:
The external and internal color of the fruits on a single plant may change from yellow-orange at the beginning of the season to almost red by late August - early September. At the same time, the flavor only improves. A wonderful large-fruited medium-early bicolor with a rich honey flavor! The plant is strong, with thick stems, and each cluster contains 4-5 fruits weighing 450-600 grams.
Shape - round-flattened, with an orange hue and a red blush. In cross-section, the flesh has a heavenly aroma, simply fantastic! Deep orange, with the core colored bright red. This variety is one of the sweetest I’ve ever tried! Very sweet and very delicate! Highly recommended!
