LUDMILLA’S RED PLUM. A family heirloom from Kazakhstan. A unique tomato variety with an interesting origin story. It was brought to Germany by an ethnic German woman from Kazakhstan named Ludmilla, who shared the seeds with renowned rare tomato collector Reinhard Kraft. Since then, the variety has begun its journey around the world, gaining recognition among gardeners in many countries. It is valued for its reliable yield, excellent flavor, and decorative appearance.
This is a mid-season, indeterminate (tall-growing) variety with high productivity and adaptability to various growing conditions. It tolerates heat very well, maintaining yields even during dry and hot summers. In open ground, plants grow up to 1.8 meters tall, forming a strong, well-foliaged bush. Requires staking and formation into 1-2 stems for better airflow and light exposure.
The fruits are large, deep red, and have a unique shape resembling giant plums. The average weight per fruit is 200-300 grams, but with proper care, they can grow even larger. The tomatoes are meaty, have few seeds, dense yet tender flesh, and a rich, full-bodied flavor with classic sweet-and-sour tomato notes. Suitable for fresh consumption as well as for processing into sauces, pastes, or juice. The seeds were purchased in Germany from a reliable supplier, ensuring varietal purity and high germination rates.
