MAREK'S POINTY HEART. An heirloom variety of Bulgarian origin, popularized by Frederic Denny, who received the seeds from a Bulgarian gardener named Marek. Mid-season, indeterminate. The plant is very vigorous, with sprawling growth and several powerful stems, occupying a significant area and requiring staking. The yield is high, especially from the second half of the season.
Fruits weigh 200-400 g, are heart-shaped, with a more or less pronounced pointed tip. The skin is red, with possible yellowish marks on the shoulders. The flesh is dense, fleshy, with a very small number of seeds. The taste is excellent, sweet and aromatic, but not cloying — harmonious and rich. The variety is valued for its large, fleshy fruits and stable productivity.
