MARINA. This unusual tomato variety was named in honor of the breeder’s wife. It was developed through natural selection from the Evgenia variety, which allowed it to acquire its own distinctive characteristics. The plants form sturdy bushes reaching approximately 1.8 m in height. To ensure proper growth and good fruit production, they should be provided with support. The variety attracts attention not only because of its origin but also because of its beautiful, large fruits.
The tomatoes have a distinctive heart shape reminiscent of ripe strawberries. Their beautiful copper-orange color gives the harvest a particularly attractive appearance. The fruits usually weigh around 400–600 g, although some specimens can reach 1 kg. These large tomatoes look impressive and are excellent for fresh consumption. Their unusual shape and warm coloring make them a wonderful addition to any table.
The flesh is firm, meaty, and juicy, with a pleasant sweet flavor. It has virtually no noticeable acidity, making these tomatoes especially appealing to those who prefer a mild yet rich taste. They are excellent for preparing fresh salads and vegetable platters. Large slices retain their appetizing appearance and allow the delicate texture of the flesh to be fully appreciated. The tomatoes can also be served on their own with fresh herbs.
This variety is highly productive and, under favorable conditions, can yield up to 10 kg of fruit per plant. To achieve such results, the plants need regular watering, adequate nutrition, and sufficient sunlight. Because the fruits are large, the clusters may require additional support. The combination of high productivity, sweet flavor, and striking appearance makes this tomato an interesting choice for collectors. It is well suited to gardeners who appreciate large-fruited varieties with meaty flesh and an unusual copper-orange color.
