MATROSIK. A mid-season tomato variety with unusual striped, pepper-shaped fruits. The bushes are compact, reaching about 50 cm in height, making them suitable for small gardens and growing beds. The first flower cluster forms above the eighth leaf, while subsequent clusters appear every two leaves. The plants have a neat appearance and take up little space.
The fruits are elongated, resembling sweet peppers, and have an attractive striped colour pattern. Tomatoes usually weigh 100–120 g, although some specimens can reach 200 g. The flesh is firm, and the flavour is rich with pleasant nuances. Their distinctive appearance makes these tomatoes a colourful addition to the home harvest.
This variety is well suited to fresh salads and sandwiches, where the striped fruits add a special visual appeal. The compact size of most tomatoes makes them ideal for whole-fruit canning. They retain their neat appearance during preservation and look attractive in jars. This variety will appeal to gardeners who appreciate unusual colours, good flavour, and versatility.
For successful cultivation, choose a sunny location with loose, fertile soil. Water the plants regularly and moderately, especially in hot weather and while the fruits are developing. Remove weeds promptly and gently loosen the soil around the bushes. If the plants produce a heavy crop, light supports can be provided to prevent the branches from bending under the weight of the tomatoes.
