MICRO-DWARF EMERALD CITY. This plant is highly resistant to diseases. Even up to the first frosts, its leaves remain clean and green — with no yellowing or spotting. The foliage is a deep, rich green. Plant height is about 30 cm (12 inches). Fruit weight ranges from 20 to 60 grams. The flavor is bright, fruity, with a pleasant spiciness.
This is a new dwarf tomato variety introduced in 2023 by Canadian breeder Karen Olivier. It belongs to the “Short and Sweet” collection, inspired by “The Wizard of Oz.” Ruby Slippers and Yellow Brick Road are sister varieties in the same series. Plants grow to approximately 18–20 inches tall. A perfect choice for balconies or patios.
The fruits feature a striking jade-green color with golden stripes. The sweetness of these tomatoes was a pleasant surprise. They impress with both their flavor and beautiful appearance. Additionally, the variety is productive. Ideal for salads, caprese plates, or as a savory snack. Both tasty and attractive. Recommended for container growing.
FEATURES OF DWARF TOMATOES
Dwarf tomatoes offer several advantages that make them popular among gardeners:
- Compact size: These plants are short and usually do not exceed 60–90 cm (24–35 inches) in height. This makes them an excellent option for small gardens, balconies, or growing in containers.
- Low maintenance: Dwarf tomato bushes typically require little to no staking or pruning. Their compact shape also reduces the risk of branch breakage.
- High productivity: Despite their small size, dwarf tomatoes yield abundantly. Their fruits vary in size, shape, and color — from tiny cherry types to large, meaty ones.
- Excellent flavor: Dwarf tomatoes are known for their rich, sweet, and aromatic taste, making them a great choice for fresh eating.
