MORADO VEJER DE LA FRONTIERA. This tomato is prized for its large, beautiful, and delicious fruits, as well as for its stable high yields even in less-than-ideal growing conditions. It is a true heirloom variety, recognized by collectors and experienced tomato growers. The variety originates from the picturesque town of Vejer de la Frontera in the Cádiz province of southern Spain. It is one of those tomatoes that are preserved in private collections and passed from hand to hand.
It is a mid-season, medium-height variety. In open ground, plants reach about 1-1.2 meters tall. The bushes are strong, well-leafed, and easy to grow, though they respond well to pruning and feeding. The fruits are dark pink, very large — some reaching up to 400 grams, with an average weight of 200–300 g. The flesh is meaty, juicy, with pronounced sweetness, a pleasant fruity tang, and a rich aroma. It has a dense, multi-lobed interior with few seeds.
Perfect for fresh eating, as well as for juices, sauces, and salads. The flavor is particularly noteworthy — rich, deep, truly “tomatoey,” with a characteristic sweetness of ripe fruit. Thanks to these qualities, the variety enjoys great popularity among gourmets and connoisseurs. The seeds of this unique Spanish variety were obtained by us directly from Spain, where it is highly valued and widely cultivated by enthusiasts of rare and traditional tomatoes.
