MOSSY OAK. A rare, young, and very distinctive variety with a pronounced flavor and noble fruit coloring. It was obtained by crossing 'Sweet Horizon' with an unknown variety and was stabilized by Sofia Saakova and Elena Danko. Despite its relative novelty, it already deserves the attention of collectors and connoisseurs of tasty tomatoes. The plant is indeterminate, mid-season, powerful, and sturdy. The bushes form thick, strong stems, hold the harvest well, and look very substantial. In open ground conditions, the plants reach a height of about 1.5 meters.
The foliage is well-developed, creating a harmonious balance between protecting the fruits and their even ripening. The fruits are round-flattened in shape, neat, and uniform. The main color is a warm bronze, with a striking crimson "cap" on the top part of the fruit. The flesh is also of a bronze hue, dense, meaty, and very juicy, with a beautiful cut. There are few seed chambers, and a moderate number of seeds. The flavor is one of the main strengths of the variety. It confidently scores a solid 5+: rich, bright, very juicy and sweet, with a pronounced fruity note that adds depth and originality to the taste.
The tomatoes are excellent for fresh consumption, salads, and tastings where flavor is the top priority. The skin is thin and tender, making the fruits particularly pleasant to eat; however, this same characteristic makes them poorly suited for long storage and transportation—the variety is designed primarily for home and collection growing. The variety is young, so there may be slight instability in fruit shape or color, which, however, only emphasizes its living, breeding character. Mossy Oak is a tomato for those who seek not mass production, but taste, aesthetics, and individuality.
