MOUNTAIN VESUVIUS. An early indeterminate variety with a vigorous, spreading plant reaching up to 1.6 m in height. The plant adapts well to different weather conditions, tolerates temperature fluctuations and shows good overall disease resistance. For better growth, the plants should be supported and moderately pruned.
The fruits are uniform, round, weighing around 90–100 g, with a characteristic small elongated tip. When fully ripe, the tomatoes turn bright red, while two distinct ridges running along the fruit emphasize their unusual shape. The flesh is dense, juicy and sweet, while the skin is resistant to cracking. The fruits develop in attractive clusters of 6–8 tomatoes.
The variety combines early maturity, high productivity and excellent marketable qualities. The tomatoes are not prone to dropping, can be stored for up to three weeks after harvesting and withstand transportation very well thanks to their firm texture. The clusters can be harvested whole, which is especially convenient when collecting and transporting the crop. Under favorable growing conditions, one plant can produce up to 8 kg of fruit.
The harvest is excellent for fresh eating, salads and vegetable platters. The small, firm tomatoes are also convenient for homemade preserves and whole-fruit canning. For good growth and abundant fruiting, the plants simply need proper care, timely watering and regular feeding throughout the season.
