NORWOOD MEINERS. A low-growing, mid-season, and productive tomato variety developed by the famous American breeder Brad Gates. It is well suited for open-ground cultivation, including in limited space conditions. The plant height is just over 50 cm. The plants are compact, require no staking or pruning, easy to care for, and especially attractive to gardeners who value simplicity and high yields. The bushes are well-leaved and resistant to overheating and mild temperature fluctuations.
The fruits are round, very attractive, red with bright orange streaks that create an impressive striped pattern. The average fruit weight is 50-70 grams. The tomatoes have firm but tender flesh, a characteristic rich flavor with a slight acidity, and a pronounced classic tomato aroma. They are excellent for both fresh consumption and whole-fruit canning — the fruits do not crack and retain their shape during heat treatment.
This variety is distinguished by stable productivity, uniform fruit ripening, and high decorative value. It can be grown not only in garden beds but also in containers on balconies and terraces. Named after Norwood Meiners, a well-known American tomato collector and tester who dedicated his life to studying and preserving rare tomato lines.
