PANTANO, SWAMP. A tall tomato variety reaching up to 1.8 m in height. Exceptionally productive and valued for its history, it is a true vegetable heirloom, carefully preserved and passed down from generation to generation. The variety gets its name from the swampy area where it was originally grown and where it perfectly adapted to local conditions. Plants develop strong, sturdy bushes with good foliage coverage, protecting fruits from sunscald and helping them ripen evenly.
Fruits are glossy, deep red, slightly ribbed, with perfectly smooth skin and no green shoulders. They are unusually firm and shiny to the touch, ensuring excellent transportability and long shelf life. The flesh is meaty, juicy, and rich in tomato aroma. Average fruit weight ranges from 180 to 220 g, with occasional specimens reaching up to 300 g.
Flavor is harmonious and rich, with a pronounced tomato sweetness and a slight tang, making them versatile for fresh salads as well as processing into sauces and juices. The variety boasts stable yields and high market value, making it ideal for both home gardens and commercial cultivation.
