PLATTE VIERLANDER. Ultra-early, medium-tall, highly productive, heirloom German tomato variety with a history dating back to the early 19th century. At that time, it quickly gained popularity among farmers and gardeners thanks to its rare earliness for that era and the excellent flavor of its fruits. Since 1985, the variety has undergone long-term and meticulous breeding work in Germany aimed at improving its qualities — increasing yield stability, uniformity of fruits, enhancing flavor characteristics, and improving resistance to unfavorable conditions.
Plants in open ground reach about 1 meter in height, forming sturdy, well-foliaged bushes capable of bearing a heavy crop load without lodging. Fruits are large, very attractive, with rich and uniform coloration, glossy skin, and dense, meaty flesh. They are noted for their harmonious, rich, slightly sweet flavor with a mild tang, making them versatile — perfect for both fresh consumption and culinary processing. Average fruit weight ranges from 200 to 500 g, and with proper care, individual fruits can be even larger.
