RED PEACH. This 19th-century Russian variety resembles a small red peach with a light velvety fuzz on its skin (hence the name). It is an indeterminate type, producing medium-sized red fruits with a delightfully sweet flavor. If you’re lucky enough to bring them from the garden to the kitchen uneaten, they make a beautiful addition to dishes. This variety does not store well, so it is best enjoyed soon after harvest. The time from transplanting to harvest is about 70 days.
A tall, early-maturing, and highly productive tomato variety that develops strong, sturdy plants with a well-developed root system. In open ground, plants reach 1.5-1.7 meters in height, maintaining excellent foliage cover that protects the fruits from sunscald. The fruits are unique in texture — with a light fuzz, velvety to the touch, and resistant to cracking. The skin is dense and pleasantly crisp when eaten, yet allows full enjoyment of the tender, melt-in-your-mouth flesh.
The flavor is well-balanced, with pronounced sweetness and subtle fruity notes. Inside, the fruits are three-loculed, fairly meaty, juicy, and rich in the aroma of ripe tomatoes. The average fruit weight is about 150 g, though under favorable growing conditions some may be larger. This variety offers consistent yields even in unfavorable seasons and is perfect for fresh consumption as well as for salads, appetizers, and sauces.
