RED HEARTS (ROTE HERZTOMATE). A productive mid-early variety from Germany, whose name literally translates as "red heart tomato." The variety is valued for its beautiful clusters, abundant flowering, and dense, fleshy fruits with a rich flavor. The plant has regular leaves and active growth. It reaches over 1.5 m in height, forming a vigorous bush. The clusters are branched, multi-fruited, often large and showy. During flowering, the bush looks decorative — abundantly covered with many bright yellow flowers, creating the impression of a continuous blooming cloud.
The fruits are heart-shaped, slightly flattened, neatly elongated and tapering towards the tip. They average about 4 cm in diameter and up to 8 cm in length. The weight of one tomato is usually 60-80 grams. The color is deep red, attractive and even. The flesh differs from classic large-fruited "beef hearts": it is very dense, meaty, with a rich, pronounced tomato taste and pleasant sweetness. The fruits hold their shape well, are not watery, and are suitable both for fresh consumption and for processing, sauces, and whole-fruit canning.
The variety begins to bear fruit relatively early and is characterized by a stable yield throughout the season — right up until frost. The yield is high thanks to the large, branched clusters. In appearance and fruiting type, the tomato closely resembles the Tarasenko Hybrid-2 variety. Possibly, these varieties share a related origin or similar breeding lines. Red Hearts are a combination of ornamental appeal, high productivity, and the rich taste of dense heart-shaped fruits, capable of adorning both the garden bed and the table.
