SGT. PASCAL + PASKALES. A new variety developed by the Mordovian breeder N. V. Zhigalin. First presented in 2020. A mid-season tomato variety developed by crossing two interesting varieties — Sgt. Pepper’s and Pascal De Picardie. The new variety successfully combines characteristic traits of both parents, resulting in an original appearance, excellent flavor, and high productivity. The plant forms a bush about 1.5 m tall with a slender stem and slightly drooping leaves. The fruits are large, heart-shaped, and weigh approximately 150–350 g. As they ripen, they develop a rich red-pink color with an attractive anthocyanin blush, while the inside has juicy red flesh. The tomatoes have a sweet flavor with pleasant fruity notes, making the fruits especially delicious when eaten fresh.
They are excellent for salads, slicing, and various vegetable appetizers. Another valuable feature is that the fruits can remain on the plant for a long time without becoming overripe or cracking, allowing the harvest to be collected gradually. The variety is highly productive and, under favorable conditions, can produce a large number of sizeable fruits. For cultivation, it is recommended to provide the plants with good sunlight, regular watering, adequate nutrition, and reliable support for the slender stems. This variety will be especially interesting to collectors of unusual tomatoes with anthocyanin coloration and a rich, sweet flavor.
