SHORE OF A FOREST LAKE. A mid-season variety with an unusual chocolate-purple coloration and neon-green stripes across the entire fruit. A stunning plant up to 1 meter tall, powerful, sturdy, and wide. It is quite sprawling with broad leaves. Each cluster has 3–5 fruits weighing 250–300 g.
Fruit shape is flattened, and the fruits slightly wrap around the stem, forming a "bast shoe" shape. When cut, the flesh is deep purple, very aromatic, with thick, meaty walls and large seed chambers filled with dense green gel. The flavor is bright and rich, sweet with a touch of acidity.
MID-SEASON VARIETIES
These tomatoes typically mature 100–120 days after germination, making them ideal for regions with a moderate climate where warm weather lasts most of the summer. Mid-season tomatoes are known for their excellent flavor, a good balance of sweetness and acidity, and high nutritional value. Compared to early varieties, they tend to produce larger, meatier fruits and are usually more disease-resistant.
Popular varieties:
-
De Barao – a classic open-ground variety, highly productive, with large, firm, juicy fruits. Perfect for canning.
-
Oxheart – a well-known variety with large, meaty, heart-shaped fruits. High sugar content gives it a sweet taste.
