STERLING OLD NORWAY. A Norwegian-origin variety from the collection of Van and Dan McMurray, British Columbia. Fruit description: large, pink, heart-shaped, sometimes slightly “wrinkled” with irregular shapes. Fruit weight ranges from 300 g to 1 kg, though foreign sources often report 200-400 g. Flesh is dense, meaty, juicy, multi-chambered with few seeds. The taste is exceptionally sweet and aromatic, very pleasant. Fruits rarely crack.
Plant description: medium-sized, mid-early (about 90 days), high-yielding, with regular and slightly airy foliage. Indeterminate growth, reaching about 1.2 m in height in open ground. Good and consistent yields in the second half of the season. Fruits are large and very large, dark pink with a reddish tint, meaty, low-juiced, with rich sweet flavor and aroma. Recommended for outdoor cultivation.
