SUMMER CIDER. A variety introduced by K. Sahin from the Netherlands in 1998, also bred by Tom Wagner under the name “Apple Butter.” Mid-season, medium-height, and high-yielding. Plant height in open ground reaches up to 1.5 meters. Leaves are potato-leaved type. Fruits are large, dense, uniform, with an intense orange color. Shape is flat-round, slightly ribbed, very attractive. Average fruit weight is 400-600 g, with some reaching up to 800 g. Unripe fruits show green stripes that fade as they ripen. Flesh is juicy, buttery, tender, and sweet, with a pronounced fruity flavor and pleasant aroma. Plants are productive, resistant to fruit cracking, and the tomatoes store well and tolerate transport.
The taste of this variety is considered one of the best: harmonious, rich, sweet, with a refreshing hint of acidity. Thanks to these qualities, the variety has become very popular among tomato enthusiasts. The fruits make excellent bright-orange tomato juice — thick, aromatic, with fruity notes and a slight tang. The variety is also ideal for salads, fresh consumption, sauces, paste, and canning. The modern version has been restored from old archival collections, making it especially valuable for collectors and rare tomato lovers. Highly recommended for fans of yellow-fruited tomatoes for open-ground cultivation.
