SANGOLD (SUNGOLD SELECT). An early cherry tomato of a rich orange color, like a small mandarin. The surface is smooth with a matte sheen, very pleasant to the touch. The plant is strong, about 1.6 m tall, with thick stems. Each cluster holds 6–10 fruits weighing 18–20 g. It is high-yielding and retains its fruit well. The tomatoes hang tightly on the plant and do not crack at all, making it possible to harvest full clusters and transport them easily.
This is a tall, early-ripening, very productive variety with potato-like leaves. Each cluster sets 10–20 or more fruits. In the sun, the fruits glow like little bulbs. They are not tough, very sweet—tasting like exotic tropical fruit jam—do not crack or rot. This variety has a world-famous and very popular hybrid known in the West as Sungold F1, with extremely sweet fruits.
This hybrid is so well-loved that many amateur breeders abroad have been trying for years to de-hybridize it. Perhaps this version will become the new favorite? When cut open, it’s even more vibrant, fleshy, with thick walls. The flavor is equally intense and delightful—sweet, spicy, juicy—just amazing!
