DE BARAO BLACK. One of the most reliable and time-tested varieties for open ground and greenhouses. A mid-season, indeterminate tomato with vigorous growth and impressive yield potential. In open ground conditions, they reach heights of up to 3 m, forming strong, well-leafed bushes that require sturdy support and regular staking. The main advantage of the variety is its very long fruiting period. The bushes consistently set fruit until the cold weather, providing a high and even yield. With proper cultivation techniques, up to 8 kg of quality fruits can be obtained from one plant.
The fruits are oval-plum shaped, dark, almost black-burgundy in color. The weight of the tomatoes is up to 100 g. The flesh is dense, meaty, and juicy, with a rich, harmonious flavor without excessive wateriness. The skin is strong, making the fruits resistant to cracking and excellent for transportation and storage. The variety is of universal purpose: ideal for fresh salads; excellent for whole-fruit canning; good for freezing and processing. 'De Barao Black' is valued for its hardiness and endurance. It is resistant to drought and most common tomato diseases.
CULTIVATION TECHNIQUES
The variety develops best in light, loose, and nutritious soil. Sowing seeds for seedlings is carried out in March, using a light soil substrate. After the appearance of 2-3 true leaves, the seedlings are pricked out. Plants are transplanted to their permanent place at the age of 55-60 days. To improve fruit set quality, it is recommended to plant several plants of the same variety nearby, which promotes better pollination. After planting, the soil should be well-moistened, and subsequently, regular watering, bush formation, and staking should be ensured. A variety for those who value stability, yield, and quality, regardless of weather conditions.
