TOMATO TREE (TOMATEN BAUM). The seeds of this variety were brought from Germany by a well-known collector. There are quite a few varieties referred to as “tomato tree,” but this one has proven to be especially successful. It quickly gained popularity among our friends due to its high productivity, disease resistance, and unpretentious growing requirements. We distributed several “tomato tree” types for trials, and this one turned out to be the best.

The plant has shown itself as consistently fruit-bearing right up to the frosts, forming a huge number of clusters with beautiful fruits. For three years we have been observing and comparing its yield with other varieties, and each time it confirms its advantages. Plants reach an impressive height of 2.5 to 3 meters, forming a real “living curtain” if grown on a trellis, along a fence, or against a wall. To shape the plants properly, we recommend tying all shoots in a fan pattern, evenly distributing the load on the support.

VARIETY FEATURES

An important detail — this variety does not require pruning of side shoots, which greatly simplifies care. The fruits are round-oval, rich red in color, weighing between 80 and 120 grams. They are quite firm, store well, and have excellent marketable quality. Their taste is very good: juicy, well-balanced between sweetness and acidity, suitable both for fresh consumption and for preservation.

The plants thrive especially well when planted closer to the house, by a fence, where the soil is richer and care is easier to provide. With mulching and occasional watering, the plants turn into real giants, impressing with their size and abundant fruiting. This variety will become a true pride of your garden: a powerful bush covered with clusters of bright fruits, resembling a tree.
