VALENA PINK. A family heirloom variety from Ann and Emil Valena, originally from Italy and brought to the USA during a visit to relatives. Indeterminate, mid-season (sometimes classified as mid-late) and very productive, with potato-leaf foliage. In open ground, plants reach about 1.6 m, forming strong, tidy, well-leafed bushes that easily carry heavy fruit sets. A true family treasure, it shows stable yields even in variable weather. Fruits are large, pink, weighing 200-500 g, uniform, richly colored, and beautifully shaped. The flesh is dense, meaty, yet juicy, with a rich tomato aroma.
Flavor is bright and sweet with a pleasant balanced acidity, earning a solid five-star taste rating. These qualities make the tomatoes perfect for fresh salads as well as juice or sauce. The variety boasts a fascinating, long Italian-American history passed down through generations, making it a genuine cultural gem. Seeds for our collection were obtained from Canada, where this rare tomato is highly prized for its superb flavor and reliable harvests.
