WORLD’S SMALLEST. Also known as Spoon Tomato or the currant tomato Solanum pimpinellifolium. It originates from South America (its wild ancestors are widespread in countries such as Peru and Ecuador), although this particular amateur-bred cultivar is not associated with any single official country. This rare and unusual cherry tomato is remarkable for its tiny fruits. Ten ripe tomatoes can easily fit on a single spoon. At the same time, the variety is exceptionally early: the first red fruits can be harvested approximately 55 days after emergence. The plant is tall, with the bush reaching about 2 m, so it requires staking and reliable support.
The foliage deserves special attention — the leaves are rounded and look unusual, making the plant decorative and noticeably different in the garden. The fruits are small, bright red, very juicy and sweet. Despite their miniature size, they have a rich flavor and pleasant aroma. These tomatoes are convenient to eat straight from the plant, use in salads, decorate dishes, or simply pick as a sweet vitamin-rich snack.
