ZORE'S BIG RED. An American family heirloom named after the Zore family. A large-fruited red tomato producing beautiful heart-shaped fruits that combine outstanding appearance, meaty flesh, and rich old-fashioned tomato flavor. Mid-season variety with a spreading plant reaching about 1.3 m (4.3 ft) in open ground. Potato-leaf foliage. Each cluster produces 3–5 large fruits. The fruits are heart-shaped, very uniform and beautifully symmetrical, weighing 250–350 g (9–12 oz). They ripen to a rich deep red with smooth, attractive skin.
The flesh is dense, meaty, juicy, and multi-chambered with few seeds. Its texture is firm yet tender, filled with rich, flavorful flesh. The taste is full-bodied, sweet, and juicy, balanced by a pleasant hint of acidity that enhances its classic tomato flavor. A true old-fashioned large beefsteak taste without excessive juiciness. Zore's Big Red is a worthy heirloom variety featuring beautiful large hearts, potato-leaf foliage, and outstanding flavor. An excellent choice for fresh salads and heirloom collections.
