ANNA RUSSIAN — a mid-season tomato variety with raspberry-red fruits that have an elegant heart-shaped form. The average fruit weight is 180–200 g, with 4–6 fruits forming per cluster. The plant reaches a height of 1.3 meters, not very sturdy, but known for its high yield. When cut open, the fruit has a buttery texture with small seed cavities and is predominantly composed of flesh.
The flavor is rich and tomatoey, with a balance of sweetness and a slight tang. This heirloom variety has an interesting history. It is believed to have been brought to the United States by a Russian immigrant and passed down through generations until it was introduced to gardeners by Craig LeHoullier in 1989.
