AUNT RUBY'S GERMAN GREEN. One of the TOP varieties in our collection. Mid-early, large-fruited tomato. I grow it every other season, and each time it gives the same impressive result. The plant is huge and strong — up to 2.0 meters tall in open ground. Very vigorous and productive! Fruit weight ranges from 400 to 500 grams — no small ones at all!
The fruits are medium to large, yellowish-green with dark green shoulders. Sometimes they blush pink at the top and have an almost neon-green gel around the seeds. Pleasant aroma and very sweet, fruity taste. Incredibly delicious! This is not a tomato for onion salads — this is a dessert tomato, a fruit substitute, a real treat.
GREEN VARIETIES
We strongly recommend paying attention to green tomato varieties. Despite their plain or unusual appearance, many people discover an amazing enjoyment from eating these tomatoes. They offer excellent flavor qualities that are often hard to find among red-fruited types. They don’t keep long, but when picked at peak ripeness, they have an exceptionally good fruity taste.
Shape: round and slightly flattened; main color is green with a pink blush. Inside — green-bronze flesh, not visually appealing at first glance. But only until you take your first bite. Highly recommended as one of the TOP varieties in the collection!
GREEN TOMATO:
Green tomato varieties have specific features that make them interesting for cultivation. They can range in shade from light green to almost black. Here are some characteristics of green tomatoes:
-
Appearance: Green tomatoes stand out due to their unusual color, which sets them apart from traditional red ones. This makes them eye-catching and appealing to gourmets.
-
Flavor: Their taste can vary from slightly tart to sweet and tangy. Some varieties are mild and delicate, while others are more robust in flavor.
-
Variety: There are many green tomato varieties such as "Green Zebra," "Lemon Boy," "Black Prince," and others. Each has its unique appearance and taste.
-
Culinary use: Green tomatoes can be used in many dishes — fresh or cooked. They are great for salads, sauces, frying, and canning.
-
Plant care: In general, they require the same care as traditional tomato varieties. However, some green varieties may be more sensitive to extreme temperatures or specific growing conditions.
-
Ripeness indicators: Don’t rely solely on color to judge ripeness — they should feel firm and detach easily from the plant.
-
Ornamental value: Green tomatoes can add originality to your garden or vegetable bed thanks to their unusual appearance.
