BATYANYA. An early-midseason tomato variety developed by Siberian breeders, combining large fruits, high yields, and excellent flavor. The plants are indeterminate and tall, reaching approximately 1.7–2 m in height, and require sturdy support. It takes about 90–95 days from emergence to the beginning of fruit ripening. The variety has an extended fruiting period and can provide a harvest throughout the growing season.
The fruits have an attractive heart shape with a distinctive pointed tip. Their smooth, glossy skin is a rich red color, and they usually weigh 200–350 g. The flesh is meaty, sugary, and contains few seeds, with pronounced sweetness and a pleasant tomato aroma. The tomatoes look appetizing and are distinguished by their excellent flavor. Their large size and tender flesh make them particularly appealing to lovers of sweet tomatoes.
The variety is valued for its high productivity, and under favorable conditions the reported yield can reach 17 kg per square meter. The fruits ripen uniformly, remain on the plants for a long time, and are not prone to cracking when grown under suitable conditions. The tomatoes are excellent for fresh salads, slicing, and a variety of homemade dishes. They can also be used for canning and processing, including making juices and sauces.
The plants can be grown both outdoors and in plastic-covered greenhouses. The tall bushes need to be tied to sturdy supports and, if necessary, pruned by removing excess side shoots. For healthy growth, tomatoes need a sunny location, fertile soil, regular watering, and timely feeding. The variety is reported to have resistance to late blight, although preventive disease management is still advisable under unfavorable conditions.
