CHADD'S FORD, USA. Indeterminate, mid-late, very high-yielding variety bred by Tom Wagner — yet another masterpiece from a true breeding master. The plant is vigorous, with strong stems and dense foliage, tolerates temperature fluctuations well, and is resistant to most tomato diseases. Fruits are round, almost black with rich dark green shoulders, giving them a particularly decorative look on the plant.
Height in open ground reaches up to 1.8 meters, while in greenhouses it can exceed 2 meters. The average fruit weight is 120-130 grams, with firm, juicy, and aromatic flesh. The taste is delightful, rich, and complex, with a slight sweetness and a pleasant fruity note. According to growers, it’s one of the best flavors among “black” tomato varieties and will pleasantly surprise even the most discerning tomato enthusiasts.
VARIETY FEATURES
It is worth noting that the variety is still unstable: plants grown from seeds may show different forms. However, thanks to careful selection, it’s possible to isolate the form that best matches the original description and retains its unique flavor qualities. The fruits are excellent for fresh consumption, salads, juice production, or unique preserves. This variety will become a true gem of any collection and will delight even the most demanding gourmets!
