CHERRY DROPS. A delicious and sweet cherry tomato variety that is excellent for both fresh eating and preserving. The variety produces strong indeterminate plants that perform well in greenhouse conditions and can yield up to 9–10 kg/m². The first fruits begin to ripen approximately 112–115 days after germination. The plants produce attractive, large fruit trusses, each of which can contain more than 50 small tomatoes. The fruits are bright, round and very attractive, weighing approximately 12–15 g. They have a firm, meaty texture and a pleasant sweet flavor. One of the variety’s advantages is the uniform ripening of fruits within each truss, making harvesting convenient.
For good productivity, the plants are grown with 1–2 stems and supported with stakes or ties. Side shoots should be removed regularly while they are still 3–5 cm long, and the growing point is pinched above the 8th–9th flower cluster. Lower leaves are gradually removed as the fruits on the second truss begin to ripen. The small, brightly colored fruits are excellent for salads, vegetable platters, sandwiches and light snacks. Their compact size makes them ideal for serving whole, while their vivid color combines beautifully with fresh herbs and other vegetables. Cherry Drops is also well suited to home preserving: the fruits can be pickled or canned whole, added to mixed vegetable preserves.
