DE BARAO RED. One of the most popular and time-tested varieties of tall tomato from the famous De Barao series. Valued for exceptionally high yield, versatility of use, and long fruiting lasting until the very frosts. The variety is reliable, hardy, and consistently shows excellent results in different climatic conditions. The plant is indeterminate, vigorous, 2-3 meters tall, with a powerful stem and a well-developed root system. It requires mandatory staking and bush shaping, but rewards with a bountiful and prolonged harvest when proper cultivation techniques are applied.
It is distinguished by high disease resistance and good tolerance to temperature fluctuations, making the variety suitable for both greenhouses and open ground. Ripening times are mid-season or late-season, depending on growing conditions, 110-125 or more days from germination. Fruiting is extended, with clusters forming regularly. The fruits are oval, plum-shaped, uniform, dense, and fleshy, of a saturated bright red color. The average weight is 60-90 g, while in some variants and with enhanced nutrition, fruits can reach 150-250 g.
The flesh is dense, sweet, with a classic tomato flavor; the skin is strong and does not crack. The yield is very high – from 4 to 10 kg per bush. The fruits store and transport excellently, retaining their marketable appearance for a long time. The variety is of universal purpose: it is ideal for fresh consumption, whole-fruit canning, pickling, marinating, as well as for processing into sauces, pastes, and tomato preserves. A true classic among tomatoes: a hardy, productive, and reliable variety equally valued by both amateurs and professional gardeners.
