DIVA DE DEVA / THE DIVA OF DEVA. Is an old heirloom tomato variety from Romania, originating in the picturesque village of Vața de Jos near the town of Deva. Passed down through generations as a true agricultural treasure, this variety has preserved its unique characteristics over the years. Thanks to careful selection and the favorable Transylvanian climate, it is justifiably considered one of the finest tomato varieties in the world.
This is a tall, indeterminate plant that grows over 1.5 meters in open ground. It is a mid-season variety with excellent disease resistance and high productivity. The plants are strong and require staking and pruning. The fruits are large, bright red, round-flat in shape, with characteristic ribbing near the stem. The flesh is dense, juicy, and meaty, with a rich aroma. Average fruit weight ranges from 200 to 500 grams, with some even larger specimens.
The flavor is well-balanced — sweet with a pleasant acidity, typical of traditional heirloom tomatoes. Perfect for fresh eating, sauces, juices, and winter preserves. This variety is a true gem for those who value tradition, reliability, and the authentic taste of tomatoes grown with love and respect for the land.
