DIXIEWINE. A mid-season, indeterminate, high-yielding tomato variety bred by Bill Jeffers in 2007 through the cross of the renowned Brandywine and Neves Azorean Red. Thanks to this successful genetic combination, the variety combines the best traits of both "parents." The plants are vigorous and strong, with a well-developed root system and dense, dark green foliage. In open ground, they reach up to 1.8 m. in height and require staking and pruning. Responds well to pinching and performs best when grown in 1-2 stems.
Fruits are large, uniform in size and shape, weighing between 300 and 500 grams, and can exceed 700 g. with proper care. Shape is round and slightly flattened. The skin is smooth, glossy, rich red, and resistant to cracking. The flesh is dense, meaty, juicy, and contains very few seeds. The flavor is intense, rich, and complex, with a deep tomato aroma — a true explosion of taste in your mouth. It leaves a pleasant sweet-spicy aftertaste that lingers.
ADVANTAGES OF THE VARIETY:
-
Excellent resistance to most tomato diseases, especially late blight.
-
Tolerates heat and temperature fluctuations well.
-
Rarely cracks even under heavy watering.
-
Suitable for both open field and greenhouse cultivation.
-
Perfect for fresh consumption — in salads, slices, and sandwiches.
