DWARF BRANDY FRED, USA. A short (around 1 m), mid-season, and exceptionally high-yielding tomato variety bred in 2017. The fruits are round-flattened in shape, with a rich brown-red color and an impressive weight of 250–500 g. They are meaty, multi-chambered, juicy, with excellent taste and a delicate, very pleasant aroma.
A very recent variety developed between 2008 and 2015 as part of the Dwarf Tomato Project. It originated from a cross between the Tasty F1 line of “Brandywine” (PL) and “Dwarf Wild Fred,” carried out by Vince Lavallo in 2008. Officially introduced to the public in 2015.
This variety is ideal both for fresh consumption and culinary processing. It will please even the most discerning tomato lovers due to its stable yield and superb flavor qualities.
GROWING EXPERIENCE
Note: in our farm during the drought of 2018 we did not irrigate. Despite this, the plants performed admirably. In irrigated soils your plants will be significantly taller — up to 1.1 m or more — and the yield will be even higher.
This tomato variety can rightfully be called one of the best among new releases of the last ten years — it truly can win your heart and adorn any garden!
