DWARF BUBBLE GUM. A new addition to the world of dwarf tomatoes, developed as part of the international Dwarf Tomato Project breeding programme. The variety was created by crossing Red House Free Standing and Stump of the World. It combines compact growth, a sturdy plant structure and large, meaty fruits with an exceptionally sweet flavour. The name Bubble Gum reflects the variety’s main characteristic — pronounced sweetness with very little acidity. The plants are determinate, compact and robust, usually reaching 80–120 cm in height.
The plants have a standard or bush-type growth habit, a strong structure and the characteristic wrinkled rugosa foliage typical of dwarf tomatoes. Thanks to its compact size, the variety is suitable for growing both outdoors and in greenhouses. It can also be cultivated in large containers and pots, making it a convenient choice for small gardens and limited spaces. The plants do not require complicated training; light pruning is sufficient, mainly removing lower and unnecessary shoots.
TOMATO CHARACTERISTICS
The variety is mid-season to early mid-season. The fruits are round, sometimes slightly flattened, and red-crimson or pink in colour. Tomatoes generally weigh 120–200 g, although individual fruits can reach 300–400 g under favourable conditions. The flesh is firm, meaty and juicy, with a rich, very sweet flavour and almost no noticeable acidity. This combination makes Dwarf Bubble Gum particularly appealing to those who prefer sweet tomatoes for fresh salads.
The fruits have good keeping quality and are resistant to cracking, helping them retain their attractive appearance after harvesting. They are suitable not only for fresh consumption but also for storage. Dwarf Bubble Gum is an excellent choice for dwarf tomato enthusiasts who appreciate compact plants, large meaty fruits and a rich, sweet flavour. It can be grown in the garden, in a greenhouse or in large containers, producing delicious tomatoes even where space is limited.
