DWARF KODIAK KING. A mid-season, high-yielding variety from the dwarf tomato series, combining a compact plant with large, meaty fruits. The plant is sturdy, with a strong stem, reaching approximately 70 cm outdoors and up to 1 metre in a greenhouse. It is well suited to small gardens and growing spaces where efficient use of room is important. The fruits are large, flattened-round and bright red, weighing up to 300 g. Beneath the thin skin is dense, meaty pink flesh with relatively little juice and a rich tomato texture. The flavour is deep, full-bodied and well balanced.
The variety was introduced in the United States in 2022 as part of the Dwarf Tomato Project, an international initiative focused on developing compact yet productive, large-fruited tomatoes. It belongs to the Grizzly family of varieties, and its name refers to Kodiak Island in Alaska, famous for its brown bears. The plant produces fruit over a long season, continuing until frost and providing a generous harvest. Its large, juicy and meaty tomatoes are excellent for slicing, fresh salads and a variety of dishes.
