DWARF MICKEY MOUSE. An outstanding mid-early variety from the Dwarf Tomato Project that combines a compact plant, exceptional productivity, and excellent fruit quality. Despite its modest size, this variety impresses with vigorous growth, abundant fruit set, and consistently high yields. The plant is determinate and reaches about 50 cm (20 in) in height when grown outdoors. It forms a compact, sturdy bush with thick stems and dense foliage that effectively protects the fruits from excessive sun exposure. Due to its exceptionally heavy fruit set, moderate pruning is recommended to improve air circulation and distribute the crop more evenly.
When planting, sufficient spacing between plants is important, as they quickly become bushy and require good light penetration. The variety is distinguished by remarkable vigor and its ability to produce numerous fruit clusters. Even with its compact habit, the plants remain heavily covered with fruit throughout the growing season. High productivity is maintained even during hot summers, while the dense foliage reliably protects the crop from overheating and sunscald. The fruits are round to oval, almost spherical, smooth, glossy, and deep red.
Their average weight is 40-60 g. Each truss carries 7-9 uniform tomatoes that ripen simultaneously and create an exceptionally attractive display. The fruits resist cracking even when fully ripe, tolerate adverse weather well, and retain their excellent market appearance. The flesh is firm, meaty, juicy, and contains relatively few seeds. The thin yet durable skin provides excellent transportability and makes the fruits suitable for a wide range of culinary uses.
FLAVOR
The flavor is rich, harmonious, and exceptionally pleasant. Natural sweetness predominates over a light refreshing acidity, while a delicate aftertaste with subtle fruity notes makes this variety especially enjoyable for fresh consumption. The fruits are equally delicious straight from the vine, in salads, or as a healthy snack. Thanks to their firm texture, convenient size, and durable skin, they are also ideal for whole-fruit canning, pickling, sauces, and other tomato products.
The fruits retain their shape well after heat processing and look especially attractive in jars. Dwarf Mickey Mouse is one of the most productive compact tomato varieties, combining ease of cultivation, excellent heat tolerance, abundant fruit production, and outstanding flavor. An excellent choice for open-ground gardens, small vegetable plots, container growing, and anyone seeking maximum harvest from a compact plant.
