THE SECRET OF ALIFIROV, Kazakhstan. A variety from the private collection of renowned breeder Vitaly Alifirov (Almaty). The plant is vigorous, reaching up to 1.5 meters tall in open ground, and shows excellent fruit set: 2-3 tomatoes per cluster, each weighing between 400 and 800 grams. The fruits are dark red with a purplish hue, resembling a brick color. They are large and flattened, with shapes ranging from boat-like to heart-shaped and slightly compressed.
The heaviest fruits can curl around the stem, resembling a bast shoe. At the top, rounded and full “shoulders” are clearly visible. Cracking is rare — which is definitely a plus. When cut, the flesh is dark chocolate-purple with an incredible aroma and many small seed chambers. Inside, the pulp is juicy and sweet, with a pleasant tomato tang. Very decorative, great for salads and dish presentation. The taste is simply excellent!
