EVA St. WENDELL. Is a tomato variety bred by Bill Jeffers. It is something between the well-known Big Beef and the flavorful Eva's Purple Ball. It combines the best traits of both: high yield, strong plant vigor, and exceptional flavor. The plants are indeterminate (tall-growing), vigorous, and require staking. In open ground, they reach up to 1.5 meters in height. Foliage is regular type, dense, and deep green. The variety is mid-season in maturity. Fruits are round-shaped, bright red with a glossy skin and highly attractive appearance. Average fruit weight ranges from 100 to 160 grams.
The skin is thick and firm, which gives the tomatoes excellent shelf life, transportability, and resistance to cracking. The flesh is meaty and juicy, with a rich sweetness balanced by a gentle, pleasant acidity. The flavor is intense, well-balanced, with a lingering aftertaste — the kind that makes you want to come back to it again and again. It’s a versatile variety, perfect for fresh salads, sauces, tomato paste, juice, and preserving. Due to their density and texture, the fruits hold their shape well when sliced or cooked.
