FLASHEN TOMATEN, Germany. This variety was developed by Valery Son, who stabilized the Corianne F1 hybrid (a San Marzano type). A mid-season variety with red fruits. Plants reach about 1.3 m (4.3 ft) in open ground, with slender yet sturdy stems. Each truss produces up to 10 fruits weighing 20–30 g. When grown as a single stem, the plants deliver exceptionally high yields. The variety originated from the segregation of the Corianne F1 hybrid and represents a stabilized Flaschen tomato line. Its name means "bottle", referring to the distinctive bottle-shaped fruits.
The fruits contain very few seeds but are remarkably productive and exceptionally sweet. They are glossy, elongated, low in juice, and rich in dry matter, making them ideal for drying. Plants continue producing until the first frost and develop long, heavily loaded trusses. This is an extremely productive variety—one plant can yield an entire bucket of tomatoes. The fruits have the characteristic San Marzano-style bottle shape, often ending with a pointed tip or a slight indentation.
The plants produce relatively little foliage but an abundance of long fruit trusses. Thanks to their dense flesh, honey-like sweetness, excellent keeping quality, and outstanding productivity, these tomatoes are perfect for preserving. Their high dry matter content makes them ideal for sun-drying, dehydrating, slicing, and whole-fruit canning.
