FRECKLED CHILD. A variety originating in the USA, developed by Brad Gates (Wild Boar Farms). It was created through a crossbreeding process with unknown exact parentage, but among its likely ancestors are Big Rainbow, Cherokee Purple, Marvel Stripe, Black Krim, Green Zebra, and Brandywine. This is a mid-season, indeterminate variety with excellent flavor. In open ground, plants reach a height of about 1.5-1.7 meters. The bushes are strong but not overly dense, with typical potato-leaf foliage. The compact leaf arrangement allows good air circulation and reduces susceptibility to diseases. Fruits are bright orange with a soft pinkish blush, visually very attractive.
The flesh is dense and juicy, with pronounced sweetness, a balanced flavor, and a rich, pleasant aroma. Perfect for fresh consumption, as well as for making salads, juices, and sauces. Fruits weigh between 100 and 200 grams, round or slightly flattened in shape, and uniform. Requires staking and regular pruning. Despite adverse weather conditions during the season, it performed well — yield was above average. According to gardeners, in favorable years it produces consistently high yields. It responds well to feeding and, with proper care, rewards with an abundant harvest.
